At the time, we addressed this topic in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/education\/blog\/google-admin-are-you-ready-for-artificial-intelligence-tools-at-your-school\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">our blog<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, assuming it would greatly impact the education sector.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now, when we head into the next school year with AI at our (or, rather, students\u2019) fingertips, let\u2019s seriously consider how to stop the plague of plagiarism in Google Classroom caused by cost-free artificial intelligence technology.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Read on to find out:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How serious is the problem of plagiarism in schools, and how does it impact learning performance<\/li>\n<li>Why your school needs an efficient AI detector<\/li>\n<li>What&#8217;s the difference between Google Originality reports vs. Taskmaster reports<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Plagiarism Pandemic in Schools<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AI-generated chatbots have become common among students: <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/learn.g2.com\/plagiarism-statistics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">89% <\/a>report turning to ChatGPT for\u00a0their homework.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This figure doesn\u2019t necessarily mean they all copied and pasted directly from ChatGPT. According to data from Turnitin,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">an AI detector,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.k12dive.com\/news\/students-ai-plagiarism-turnitin\/713177\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">11% of students\u00a0<\/a>didn\u2019t write their papers alone<\/strong>; at least 20% <\/span>of their papers included chat-generated text. In six million assignments, 80% or more were AI-generated content. And we\u2019re talking only about papers analyzed by this detector.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Skeptics would say that students have always been cheating. However, now it\u2019s easier and faster than ever before. All students need is an online connection; in a second, they get an extensive answer for any prompt.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But, as with cheating using small pieces of paper, it has consequences for students\u2019 learning performance and causes headaches for teachers.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>How Does Artificial Intelligence Impact Student Learning?<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let\u2019s see what happened in schools after the launch of free AI chatbots worldwide.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Like many people from different backgrounds, students got excited about the new opportunities. It becomes a battle between students and AI chatbots against teachers and AI detectors.
