Chapter 2: Build Your Google Classroom Environment<\/h2>\nThis chapter of our <\/span>Guide to Online Teaching in Google Workspace<\/a> series will help you<\/span> recreate your physical classroom in the digital realm.<\/span>\n\n<\/span>\n\n Start by assessing your \u2018tech savviness\u2019. You’ll want to play around with each tool to assess your comfort level using it and see if <\/span>what you know now is enough to start. <\/span>\n\nIf it does, then you\u2019re halfway there. If it doesn\u2019t, then you\u2019ll need to train your tech muscles a bit more.<\/span>\n\nYou can then adjust your EdTech toolbelt to accommodate other tools and personalize your Google Classroom environment.\n

Google for Education and 3rd Party EdTech tools<\/h3>\nThe first and most important EdTech tool you need to identify with immediately is (drum roll please!), <\/span>Google Classroom. <\/a>\n\nIt’s your learning management system (LMS). From there, you can set assignments, communicate with students, grade work, and more.<\/span>\n\nSEE: how to create your first Google Classroom<\/a>.\n\nWhile your\u00a0core<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Google tools support the 4 C\u2019s of education \u2014 <\/span>Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, and Critical Thinking \u2014 <\/strong>\u00a0don\u2019t feel the need to limit yourself to them.<\/span>\n\nThere are plenty of 3rd party tools out there that can help complement the tools you’ve got.\n\nHere’s an overview of how you can use each tool in your digital classroom and some 3rd party options to consider.\n

Sketch up Your Own Personalized Google Classroom<\/h3>\nEvery teacher\u2019s classroom will vary based on the subject they teach and their classroom vision.\n\nMentally pack every important item in your physical classroom and identify its digital equivalent in Google for Education <\/strong>\u2014 or a 3rd party tech tool (you can explore choices from the EdTech Toolbelt<\/strong>\u00a0above).\n\nHere\u2019s an example of how your sketch would look:\n
