I assume this is my school watching me, and I deleted everything tethered to the school and restarted my phone. I look it up again, Google Classroom is still spying on it.&nbsp;<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Monitoring student devices may seem like Big Brother. But as long as it isn\u2019t violating the right to privacy and you collect only the data truly necessary, it can be an effective and compliant safeguarding tool. After all, the students are just school-aged children, and their parents expect them to be protected at school.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-how-can-school-admin-ensure-student-privacy-in-google-classroom\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>How Can School Admin Ensure Student Privacy in Google Classroom?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We&#8217;ve identified three critical areas to keep your classrooms, student safety, and data security under control. Audit Google Classroom Drive Folders<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Check which internal and external users have access to files on your Drive. Protect Student Data<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the main tasks of Google Admins is ensuring the safe storage of data. Much of this work falls to you, K12 Google Admin, but users themselves also need to contribute a bit. Their daily attitude and the way they use their devices can affect the security of the entire domain.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Protecting student data can be challenging if your school\u2019s domain has hundreds or thousands of children. To make this work smoothly, <mark style=\"background-color:#f1e6ff\" class=\"has-inline-color\">consider implementing automated workflows to provide safe solutions for students\u2019 devices<\/mark> at your school.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-1-require-strong-user-passwords\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Require Strong User Passwords<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s the first line of defense against student data leakage. Enforce Two-Factor Authentication<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Manage 2FA automatically for all users. When any of them tries to disable this login method, it will <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/tech-tips\/trigger-a-workflow-when-users-disable-or-enable-2fa-with-gat-flow\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">trigger the workflow<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> set by the Google Admin in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/education\/products\/gat-flow\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">GAT Flow<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. As a result, i.e. you will send a warning message to the user.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-3-audit-third-party-app-permissions\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Audit Third-Party App Permissions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today,<mark style=\"background-color:#f1e6ff\" class=\"has-inline-color\"> basic 2FA isn&#8217;t sufficient to ensure tight user and data security.<\/mark> Since data hijacking often starts with stealing login data via external applications, auditing and controlling them is crucial. With<a href=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/tech-tips\/audit-and-manage-third-party-applications-in-google-workspace\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/tech-tips\/audit-and-manage-third-party-applications-in-google-workspace\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> regular audits of OAuth third-party apps<\/a> and Chrome extensions, you can monitor their access to users&#8217; personal information during an active session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-4-identify-sensitive-files\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Identify Sensitive Files<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another excellent automation feature here. Do you suppose that some sensitive data can be stored on Google Drive and accessible to the entire school? <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/tech-tips\/find-documents-that-contain-sensitive-information-in-google-drive\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Find documents containing sensitive search terms<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> using the \u201cFile Content Search\u201d section of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/education\/products\/gat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">GAT+<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Since both students and teachers use artificial intelligence daily, make sure they rely only on vetted online tools.
