Show event activity on Files or Folders across Google Drive
With the GAT+ tool, you can analyze what events occurred in a particular folder or users My Drive
Below you can see and follow all the instructions on how this can be achieved.
On the left-hand side, navigation click on Drive audit.
Apply filter and Search for the folder/file and user. In the example below, we will search for the Shared drive Folder
Flag contains Shared drive, Type equal Folder and Title equal
Click on Apply and the result will be displayed.
Once the result is displayed we can go in and select Show contents of this folder and its subfolders
Note: if we just select ‘Show events’ will show the events to the folder itself. To see events of the content of the folder itself we need to go inside the folder
The result will display all the content of the selected Folder. Click on the Events tab on the top.
The events audit will display the event types of the search. Selecting the “Events” tab will show us one page with the events that occurred to the Folder/File.
We can apply Filter and change the type of the filter to Filtered Files search
This will give us all the events for this specific Shared drive folder.
Clicking on the Date value will filter by the newest event that has occurred on the folder.
Additional filters can be applied for searching for a specific event or by a specific user and so on.
We can also export the data as a Google Spreadsheet and investigate in further details
An admin can also view the events on a particular file.
To do this simply find the file you want to check, click on the arrow beside the file name and click on ‘Show events’
The result will display all events that occurred on the file like, see who edited, downloaded, change permissions, view, rename, and so on.
