# How to Set Up and Manage Email Auto-Forwarding in GAT+

## Why set up email auto forwarding?

As a Google Workspace administrator, you may want to configure automatic email forwarding for some users in your domain for convenience, compliance, or security purposes.

## How to set up email auto-forwarding

To set up email auto-forwarding, navigate to **GAT+ (1) > Users (2) > Email info (3)**

Apply a filter**(4)** to retrieve the users whom you wish to set auto-forwarding for . E.G. use the filter definition Name - equal - *John Smith***(5).**

Once ready, click on the **Apply (6)** button to trigger the search based on the criteria defined in the filter.

When you run the filter, GAT+ returns the required result **(1)**.

To create an auto-forwarding request, navigate to the right side of the record row where the **Actions** column exists.

Click on the arrow down button to display available options **(2)**.

From the drop-down menu, select the **Set auto forwarding** option **(3)**.

Available options for end-user mailbox:

- No changes
- Mark emails as read
- Archive emails
- Delete emails

Once all is set, **Send Request** (3) to the Security Office for approval.

Because this action may violate the privacy of others, it must be used with extreme caution and carefully considered. Therefore, to enable this feature, GAT+ requires the consent from another individual within the organization - Security Officer, not the requesting party. This is the default security design for this feature.

Once request is sent to the Security Officer for review, they will get an automated notification via email, from where they can access GAT+ and review the request.

## FAQ

**Q: Why is it an important feature?**

**A:** Email auto-forwarding is important in many situations because it ensures important messages reach the right people or systems, preventing them from being missed or overlooked. This feature helps you achieve goals related to convenience, compliance, and security.

**Q: Can I set up more than one email auto-forwarding, allowing forwarding a single email to multiple addresses simultaneously?**

**A:** At a time, it can be only one email auto-forwarding set up. If you want to auto-forward an email to multiple users, you can consider auto-forwarding it to group address instead of a single user account.
