Finding a specific file type in your\u00a0Google workspace<\/strong>\u00a0is made easy with\u00a0GAT+<\/strong>\u00a0using the powerful options available in the filter section these files can be managed effectively.<\/p>\n

IMPORTANT: User accounts MUST be Active for the Ownership change to work. <\/strong>Google blocks any access to files when they are suspended<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Getting Started<\/span><\/h3>\n

Firstly Launch GAT+ and navigate to the\u00a0\u2018Drive\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0section.<\/p>\n

Finding a Specific Google Drive file<\/span><\/h3>\n

In the filter area, you can\u00a0use the search for parameter mime-type.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Here is a list of type mime-type searches:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • application\/photoshop<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • audio\/mp3<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • video\/mov<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • image\/jpeg<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • text\/css<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    For example, if we were\u00a0searching for mp4 files<\/strong>\u00a0owned by local users you can do the following search in Drive audit.<\/p>\n

    Click on the\u00a0\u2018Apply custom filter\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0button.<\/p>\n

    You can then apply the following search parameter.<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Select the search parameter\u00a0MimeType equals video\/mp4<\/strong><\/li>\n
    2. Click on the Add Rule button.<\/li>\n
    3. From the drop-down options select\u00a0\u2018Sharing Flags\u2019<\/strong>, \u2018doesn\u2019t contain\u2019, \u2018<\/b>Shared in\u2019<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/b>This will ignore all files which are shared in your domain<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Note: you have no administrative control over files shared in.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

      Click on\u00a0\u2018Apply\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0to apply the search.\u00a0You can name this filtered search, and save it for later (this is optional).<\/p>\n

      Transferring of Ownership<\/span><\/h3>\n

      When the search results appear you can select any of the files intended for\u00a0transfer of ownership<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

      Click on \u2018File Operations<\/strong>\u2018 then select\u00a0\u201cFile Management\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0from the drop-down menu.<\/p>\n

      Enter the new owner in the field provided. You can perform further actions too such as\u00a0add, remove, or replace<\/strong>\u00a0permissions.<\/p>\n

      \"GAT<\/p>\n

      Security officer notification<\/span><\/h3>\n

      Your\u00a0security officer will receive an email<\/strong>\u00a0that will ask them to approve your request. Once the request it\u2019s approved the changes will occur.<\/p>\n

      The changes in progress can be checked in the\u00a0\u201cAdmin log\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0section.<\/p>\n
