Lock student screens for exams with Teacher Assist<\/h2>\n

During online assessments, exams, or focused study sessions, maintaining student attention and preventing academic dishonesty is a top priority. The Lock Tab<\/b> feature in Teacher Assist empowers educators to restrict student Chrome browser navigation in real time.<\/p>\n

By locking a single active tab, a domain, or automatically pushing an exam URL while closing all unapproved tabs, teachers can instantly convert standard web browsers into secure, distraction-free testing environments. If a student attempts to open a new tab, navigate away, or close the assigned exam page, Teacher Assist automatically redirects them back to the required page within one second.<\/p>\n

How to lock student screens for exams<\/h3>\n

Log in to your Teacher account and navigate to the Google Apps button<\/strong> and launch GAT+<\/strong><\/p>\n

In Teacher Assist<\/strong> > click on Classrooms<\/strong> and start a classroom session.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lock tab for all students<\/h3>\n

Once the classroom is live, a teacher can set a lock tab for all the students<\/strong> in the class.<\/p>\n

Click on the Lock tabs<\/strong> (lock button) at the top of the active students<\/p>\n

The current tabs<\/strong> of all students will be locked.<\/p>\n

  • New tabs can be opened, but are automatically redirected to the locked tab.<\/li>\n
  • They can switch to other opened tabs but are automatically redirected to the locked tab.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Push the exam and lock it<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Click on the 3 dots<\/strong> and view global settings for the whole classroom.<\/p>\n

    Select and click on the Open new tab<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n

    A pop-up window will be displayed.<\/p>\n

    • Enter the website<\/strong> – enter the website you want to open or choose from recently opened websites.<\/li>\n
    • Additionally, select any additional lock option\n

      • Lock this domain<\/strong><\/li>\n
      • Close all other tabs<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
      • Take those actions on the selected website.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        The exam URL<\/strong> will be pushed to all students,<\/strong> and it will be locked<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

        The Students will be locked<\/p>\n

        • If they click to open a new tab, they will then be automatically redirected to the locked tab.<\/li>\n

          The Teacher can lock the tab of an individual student only.<\/strong><\/p>\n

          Select a student and click on the “lock icon” button to lock the current tab for the student.<\/p>\n

          Each student will also have a small lock icon, noting that the tab is locked<\/p>\n
