{"id":12607,"date":"2025-04-29T16:24:26","date_gmt":"2025-04-29T15:24:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/?post_type=docs&#038;p=12607"},"modified":"2025-05-27T14:51:16","modified_gmt":"2025-05-27T13:51:16","password":"","slug":"create-user-file-deletion-alerts-with-gat","status":"publish","type":"docs","link":"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/tech-tips\/create-user-file-deletion-alerts-with-gat\/","title":{"rendered":"Create File Deletion Alerts for Google Workspace Users with GAT+"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/tech-tips\/gat-overview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GAT+<\/a>, the Google Admin can create an alert rule for files that users delete within a period.<\/p>\n<p>The Admin can configure an alerts that trigger specifically when an individual user within your<a href=\"https:\/\/workspace.google.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Google Workspace<\/a> domain <strong>deletes a specified number of files<\/strong> within 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>This allows for more granular monitoring and quicker responses to potentially risky user behavior. The Alert will be triggered for permanently deleted files.<\/p>\n<h3>How to Set Up a File Deletion Alert Rule in GAT+<\/h3>\n<p>Navigate to <strong>GAT+ &gt; Configuration &gt; Alert rules<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Click on the + button to create an alert.<\/p>\n<p>Fill in the required information<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Name<\/strong> &#8211; Enter a name for the alert<\/li>\n<li><strong>Enabled<\/strong> &#8211; Enable or disable the rule<\/li>\n<li><strong>Type<\/strong> &#8211; Select <strong>Drive<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Scope<\/strong> &#8211; select the users for whom the rule will be applied<\/li>\n<li>Alert recipients &#8211; (optional) Enter the email of the recipient of the alert notification<\/li>\n<li><strong>Alert on number of files deleted<\/strong> &#8211; and are <strong>automatically deleted after 30 days.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>Result of the Alert rule<\/h3>\n<p>The alert rule will be triggered, and the alert notification will be displayed in <strong>GAT+ &gt; When you delete a user, if you don&#8217;t transfer files at the time, the user&#8217;s files are deleted 20 days later.
