{"id":1313,"date":"2021-12-14T20:18:48","date_gmt":"2021-12-14T20:18:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/?post_type=docs&#038;p=1313"},"modified":"2025-04-03T12:30:24","modified_gmt":"2025-04-03T11:30:24","password":"","slug":"apply-a-search-filter-in-google-drive-audit","status":"publish","type":"docs","link":"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/tech-tips\/apply-a-search-filter-in-google-drive-audit\/","title":{"rendered":"Apply a Search Filter in Google Drive Audit"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Search filters available in the Drive audit<\/h1>\n<p>GAT+ is an Audit tool for Google Workspace Domains.<\/p>\n<p>As such a tool it provides a very <strong>extensive set of Filters<\/strong> that can be applied in each section of your Workspace Domain.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Below we&#8217;ll cover some of the most common search parameters used in the Drive audit. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We provide a large list of parameters and operants to find files\/folders within Google Drive.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Drive audit<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click on the funnel icon also known as the \u2018<strong>Apply custom filter<\/strong>\u2019 button. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-45008\" src=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/2021-06-17-17_39_45-GAT.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"602\" height=\"249\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This button is available everywhere within the GAT+ set of tools.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-44961\" src=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/2021-06-16-15_19_59-GAT.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1582\" height=\"672\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Filters<\/h2>\n<p>A<strong> pop-up menu<\/strong> will appear.<\/p>\n<p>The filters are divided into different <strong>types<\/strong> and <strong>definition set<\/strong>s of <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">parameters and operants.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Type filters<\/h3>\n<p>In <strong>Type<\/strong> you can select multiple options, the default will be &#8220;Simple filter&#8221;. Selecting it will display other options.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Simple filter<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Title \/ Description Search<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Folder \/ Shared Drive Search<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>User \/ Group \/ OU Search<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Files by Event type \/ Date and User<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Files by User Status<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Duplicated Files<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-45385\" src=\"https:\/\/n.gatlabs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/screenshot-gs.generalaudittool.com-2021.07.05-17_55_19.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"986\" height=\"434\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Each of those &#8220;<strong>Types&#8221; <\/strong>allows different search options.<\/p>\n<h4>Simple filter<\/h4>\n<p>The &#8220;<strong>Simple filter<\/strong>&#8221; enabled the Admin to apply a simple filter use the &#8220;Definition&#8221; and apply any search options.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-45010\" src=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/screenshot-gs.generalaudittool.com-2021.06.17-17_46_10.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1111\" height=\"595\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Full content search<\/h4>\n<p>Full Content Search allows the Admin to apply a <strong>query<\/strong> and search in the &#8220;Content&#8221; of the file for the chosen &#8220;query&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-45013\" src=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/screenshot-uk.generalaudittool.com-2021.06.17-18_07_03.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1016\" height=\"436\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Query<\/strong> &#8211; enter the query (text) that has to match the content of the file<\/li>\n<li><strong>Local User\/Group<\/strong> &#8211; enter the user or group of users<\/li>\n<li><strong>Org.<\/strong> &#8211; enter the Organization Unit<\/li>\n<li><strong>Include sub.org.<\/strong> &#8211; select to include the sub. ou of the above selected Org.Unit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Full Content Search<\/strong> can be <strong>combined<\/strong> with search options in<strong> Definition<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Title \/ Description Search<\/h4>\n<p>Title \/ Description Search allows Admins to find a file based on the Title of the File<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-45049\" src=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/screenshot-gs.generalaudittool.com-2021.06.18-17_38_40.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"998\" height=\"203\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Terms &#8211; enter the &#8220;title&#8221; of the file needed.\n<ul>\n<li><em>Most punctuation is considered delimiters, except a hyphen-minus (-)\u00a0 that negates a term or double quotes that specify a phrase (some phrase&#8221;)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Case sensitive &#8211; select the check-mark to be case sensitive or not<\/li>\n<li>Sort by text score\u00a0 &#8211; Represent the relevance of the result of the query\n<ul>\n<li><em>Sort by text score, which represents the relevance of the result to the query. Both text columns are considered, but they are not equally important. Search for the email address of the owner of the file\/folder<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shared Drive ID<\/strong> &#8211; Enter the Shared Drive ID to find the file<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shared out<\/strong> &#8211;
