Shared Drive permissions inherit from the root folder, so you must remove them at the root level.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The workaround it is to exclude Shared Drive folders and remove only the shares from the MyDrive.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>File management: Remove Specific External Shares in Google Drive<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once the <\/span><b>File management<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> configuration dialog is displayed<\/span><b> (1)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, navigate to <\/span><b>Remove<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> tab (2) and select particular external shares to be removed <\/span><b>(3)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0 Once ready, select <\/span><b>Next (4)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-14864 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/External-4.png\" alt=\"Drive File management configuration dialog box and the options to remove different type of external shares: Managers, Content Managers, Contributors (Editors), Viewers and Commenters. See point <\/span><b>3<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the image above.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"58\" data-end=\"204\"><strong data-start=\"58\" data-end=\"202\">You can also select &#8220;Remove all external commenters&#8221; to revoke commenter rights.
