How to install Shield+<\/h2>\n

In this document, we will cover the steps to install the GAT Shield+<\/strong> extension.<\/p>\n

It is an audit, reporting, and security Chrome extension for your Google Workspace environment.<\/p>\n

Before you begin<\/strong>, make sure you’ve completed the prerequisite below.<\/p>\n

Shield Requirement<\/h3>\n

GAT Shield is a prerequisite extension that must be installed alongside GAT Shield+<\/b><\/p>\n

Shield Plus is a Chrome extension that the Super Admin of the domain must install via the Google Admin console.<\/p>\n

Below, we will cover how to deploy the Shield+<\/strong> extension to your Google Workspace users.<\/p>\n

Important:<\/em> Shield Plus <\/b>can be installed only for specific Organization Units.<\/p>\n

Step 1. Open Chrome Apps and Extensions<\/h3>\n

First, navigate to the Google Admin console.<\/a><\/p>\n

In the Admin console, from the menu on the left, click on Devices > Chrome > Apps and extensions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

From the top menu, select Users and browsers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A new page will be displayed with all the Chrome extensions deployed to the domain.<\/p>\n

Step 2. Add the GAT Shield+ Extension<\/h3>\n

To install the GAT Shield extension, choose the root Org Unit<\/strong> (1) or a sub-OU where you want to deploy Shield Plus <\/strong>(2).<\/p>\n

On the bottom right side, click on the Yellow (+) button<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

From the options shown, select Add the Chrome app or extension by ID (3)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Step 3. Enter the Extension Details<\/h3>\n

Then, you will see a pop-up window. Select the From a custom URL\u00a0<\/strong>option (1).<\/p>\n

You can find the ID<\/strong>, URL<\/strong>, Webcam URL, and Policy for an extension<\/strong> in Shield<\/strong>\u00a0under\u00a0Help \u2013 Extensions deployment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Click\u00a0Save<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Step 4. Configure the Installation Policy<\/h3>\n

Click on the newly installed extension. You will see a pop-up window on the side.<\/p>\n

In the Installation policy,<\/strong> click and select Force install<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Scroll to the bottom of the page in the same window to find the Policy for extensions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Access security key<\/h3>\n

To access and view the Security Key, navigate to GAT Shield Plus > Configuration > Extension deployment.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Under the Permissions and URL access<\/strong> field, click Allow all permissions (2).<\/strong><\/p>\n

After making all the changes, click the Save<\/strong> button on the top right.<\/p>\n

Step 5. Copy the Extension ID and Policy<\/h3>\n

To\u00a0access and view the Extension ID and URL, navigate to\u00a0GAT Shield+ > Configuration > Extension deployment.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Copy the ID<\/strong>, URL<\/strong>, Webcam URL, and Policy for an extension<\/strong> from here and use them in the Google Admin Console<\/p>\n

Result<\/h3>\n

When the Shield+ extension is deployed, the end users must be logged into the Google Chrome browser with their domain accounts.<\/p>\n

The extension will appear under their Google extensions.<\/p>\n

The browsing activity will then be reported to the GAT Shield console for the Admins to manage.<\/p>\n
