Block All Websites in Google Chrome<\/a> with GAT Shield<\/a> allows an admin to block a user from any web access<\/strong> and allows<\/strong> them to use only specific sites<\/strong> to be accessed.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

First, we can use a special category called “ALL” that allows us to block all site URLs<\/strong> for the users.<\/p>\r\n

We can then create a custom list of sites that will be allowed.<\/p>\r\n

The allow list takes precedence over the blocklist.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

Below are instructions for how to enable this special category and block all, and how to create a simple allow category to allow specific sites.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Blocklist<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Navigate to GAT Shield > Site Access Control >\u00a0<\/strong> Predefined Categories\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

In the Predefined Categories<\/strong> section, search for the “all<\/strong>” category. This is a special category that will block all URLs<\/strong> for the users. Click on the + Create rule for this category<\/strong> button (2).<\/p>\r\n

Create the “block All” rule\u00a0<\/h3>\r\n

After clicking + Create rule for this category<\/strong> button, the Create rule wizard window will be displayed, where you can fill in the required information.<\/p>\r\n

    \r\n
  • Rule name<\/strong> (1) – enter the name of the rule<\/li>\r\n
  • Category<\/strong> (2) – will be “all” as pre-selected\u00a0<\/li>\r\n
  • Action:<\/strong>\r\n
      \r\n
    • select “Rule action – Block<\/strong>” (3)<\/li>\r\n
    • Redirect URL (optional) (4) – to redirect the user, enter the redirect URL<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n
    • Scope <\/strong>(5)- select the scope type and fill in other scope related fields if applicable\r\n
        \r\n
      • Scope type:<\/strong>\r\n
          \r\n
        • User<\/strong> – enter the users to be blocked<\/li>\r\n
        • Group<\/strong><\/li>\r\n
        • OU<\/strong>\r\n
            \r\n
          • Include sub. org. units<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n
          • All users<\/strong><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n
          • Create<\/strong> (6) – click Create button to create the rule\u00a0<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n

            Result<\/strong>:<\/h3>\r\n

            Blocking all websites in Chrome will prevent users from accessing any URL.<\/p>\r\n

            \"GAT<\/p>\r\n

            Allowlist<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

            Now to Allowlist<\/strong> and set up the Only pages<\/strong> the user is allowed to open<\/strong>, navigate toto the Rules (1) section and select Allow<\/strong>\/Block Sites (2)<\/p>\r\n

            When selected, a new pop-up window will be displayed.<\/p>\r\n

            Select Allow <\/strong>(1), and enter the Scope<\/strong> (2) of users to be affected by the rule.<\/p>\r\n

            Scroll down the Allow \/Block wizard window to enter the website URLs\u00a0 (1) that will be allowed to be opened.<\/p>\r\n

            You can use the option to Paste from clipboard<\/strong> (2) or Add Website \/ IP<\/strong> manually (3).<\/p>\r\n

            The Additional Options section (4) is optional. You can add a rule description there to better identify the rule or provide a reason for adding it.<\/p>\r\n

            When ready, select “Allow<\/strong>” to activate the rule (5).<\/p>\r\n

            Result of the block and allowlists<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
