Monitor students’ and teachers’ Google Classroom activity<\/h2>\n

GAT Shield is an extension when deployed to the end-users it allows tracking of the user’s Browsing activity.<\/p>\n

Using GAT Shield, an admin can view<\/strong> and track<\/strong> the activity<\/strong> of the teachers and students<\/strong> in Google Classrooms.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Browsing tags<\/h3>\n

An Admin can set up a tag for browsing Google Classrooms. This “tag” can then be used to filter only the browsing in Google Classroom<\/p>\n

Navigate to GAT Shield > Configuration > Browsing tags<\/strong><\/p>\n

On the right side, click on the + New browsing tag <\/strong>button<\/p>\n

  • Site URL – <\/strong>enter classroom.google.com – the Google Classroom page<\/li>\n
  • Tags – <\/strong>enter the name of the tag and click on the + button beside it (5)<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Create <\/b>– click to create the Tag<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Navigate to Audit > Browsing\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

    You can filter and “pin” the Tags.<\/p>\n

    Filter by the “tag” for Classroom and view all the activity<\/strong> for all users on the classroom.google.com<\/strong> webpage via the tag Classroom<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Filter by Tag and search for classroom – all the tags with the classroom activity will be displayed.<\/p>\n

    In the top right corner, you can filter by the time frame, for example<\/p>\n

    • Today<\/li>\n
    • Yesterday<\/li>\n
    • Last 24 hours<\/li>\n
    • Last 7 days<\/li>\n
    • Last 14 days<\/li>\n
    • Last 28 days<\/li>\n
    • This month<\/li>\n
    • Previous month<\/li>\n
    • Custom – pick custom time for up to 180 days back<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      All additional information can be seen, such as how long the users were on the classroom sites, time on website, when it started, and when it finished, the full website URL etc.<\/p>\n

      Search the students summary<\/h3>\n

      Navigate to Reporting > User summary > Search for the students OU<\/strong><\/p>\n

      • Filter by the the OU of students<\/li>\n
      • Search for specific date\/time frame<\/li>\n
      • Group by Tag<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        You will see a dashboard for the Students browsing activity for the selected time and filterd by Tags used.<\/p>\n

        Export the dashboard<\/h4>\n

        The data can be exported<\/strong> by the “Print reprot” button.<\/p>\n

        Q1. How can I see how much time students are actually spending on Google Classroom?<\/strong><\/p>\n

        A2. Once you have created and applied the Classroom<\/b> browsing tag, navigate to Audit > Browsing<\/b> in the GAT Shield console. Use the “Filter by Tag” option to select your classroom tag. The resulting report will display detailed metrics for every user, including the Time on Website<\/b>, the exact start and end times of their session, and the specific URLs they visited within the classroom domain.<\/p>\n

        Q2. Can I track Google Classroom activity for a specific date range, like the past week?<\/strong><\/p>\n

        A2: Yes.<\/b> After filtering your view by the Google Classroom tag, use the time frame filter<\/b> located in the top right corner of the GAT Shield dashboard. You can select predefined ranges such as Today, Yesterday, Last 7 days, or Last 14 days, Last 28 days, or custom time frame for up to 180 days to see activity logs and duration data for that specific period.<\/p>\n
