With GAT Shield you can monitor who your users are chatting to on Google Chat<\/a>, you can gather information about how long the conversation lasts and see the chat participants.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Google Chat audit<\/h3>\r\n

Navigate to GAT Shield <\/strong>(1)\u2192 Audit <\/strong>(2)\u2192 Chats <\/strong>(3)<\/p>\r\n

The table with all the records will be displayed (4). Each record can be reviewed in detail by hovering the cursor over to its right side so the Detail<\/strong> button (5) appears and can be used.<\/p>\r\n

NOTE: Default Data set for the filter is “Last 24 Hours<\/strong>” (6) and this can be adjusted accordingly.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Apply filter<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Utilizing the filtering feature, you can quickly analyze whether your users are chatting with external<\/strong> (users) domains.<\/p>\r\n

To do so, apply a filter and search for:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    \r\n
  • Select – “Scope” equal to External\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n

    Chats metadata is returned that shows all the conversations logs with external users.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    NOTE: Since Google Chat allows users to communicate with people outside the organization, provided both organizations have enabled the feature and the external user has a Google account, monitoring chat logs with external domains can be crucial. This functionality allows for collaboration with customers, suppliers, and other external contacts, and while it’s not always a red flag, it’s always good practice to monitor these activities.<\/p>\r\n

    The relevant Google settings are shown below:<\/p>\r\n

    Additional filters can be added to find more in-depth audits.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    Result<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    The result will show all the Chats that happen with External<\/strong> users from your domain.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    Additionally, a filter can be applied to search for Unknown<\/strong> users.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

      \r\n
    • Blue text<\/strong> – Internal users<\/li>\r\n
    • Red text<\/strong> – External users<\/li>\r\n
    • Yellow text <\/strong>– unknown users<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
