By default when changing ownership to a new owner MyDrive\u00a0<strong>a shortcut<\/strong>\u00a0is created to the original file (this preserves permissions inherited from the folder where the file was placed).<br \/>By choosing this option you are requesting to\u00a0<strong>move files directly<\/strong>\u00a0to new owner MyDrive (note: inherited permissions can be lost in the process).<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Deny access for old owner<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 By default when ownership is changed, the previous owner is added as an additional contributor<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Untrash file<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 If any files are in the Bin folder, they will be restored and taken out of the trash during the ownership transfer<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Custom path<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Custom folder path for the files to be placed in, enter the folder name followed by the forward-slash (\/), for example, folderX\/<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> By default when ownership is changed, the previous owner is added as an editor. If no custom path is selected the ownership change file will be located in the New owner&#8217;s &#8211; MyDrive<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Click\u00a0<strong>Next<\/strong>\u00a0to proceed\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-style-twentytwentyone-border\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-41124\" title=\"File management - Options when changing Ownership of a file in Google Drive 5\" src=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/screenshot-uk.generalaudittool.com-2020.12.08-18_34_52.png\" alt=\"File management - Options when changing Ownership of a file in Google Drive 5\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Additional action can be taken alongside the ownership change such as\u00a0<strong>Add, Remove,<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong>Replace<\/strong>\u00a0permissions.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In the\u00a0<strong>summary\u00a0<\/strong>tab, you can see the actions that will come into effect once you click on\u00a0<strong>Send request.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Security officer\u00a0<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The security officer receives\u00a0email notifications\u00a0for the\u00a0<strong>approval<\/strong>\u00a0required.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-style-twentytwentyone-border\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-41125\" title=\"File management - Options when changing Ownership of a file in Google Drive 6\" src=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/screenshot-mail.google.com-2020.12.08-18_38_13.png\" alt=\"File management - Options when changing Ownership of a file in Google Drive 6\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Result\u00a0<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>When the request is approved:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>new owner<\/strong>\u00a0(receiver) will have those two folders (Folder1\/Folder2) created in Drive and the\u00a0<strong>Files<\/strong>\u00a0will be inside.<\/li>\r\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>Two Files<\/strong>\u00a0will be\u00a0<strong>changed<\/strong>\u00a0to the\u00a0<strong>new owner<\/strong>\u00a0(user@domain.com) and added to MyDrive.\u00a0<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-style-twentytwentyone-border\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-41126\" title=\"File management - Options when changing Ownership of a file in Google Drive 7\" src=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/2020-12-08-18_53_13-My-Drive-Google-Drive.png\" alt=\"File management - Options when changing Ownership of a file in Google Drive 7\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The \u201cchanged ownership\u201d files, will be in the\u00a0<strong>new owner MyDrive,\u00a0<\/strong>the folder structure will be the same as in the original owners, inside \u201cfolders\u201d if it was in the original owner.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In the example above, the Location will be:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>MyDrive (on the new owner) -&gt; Folder1 -&gt; Folder2 -&gt; MyDrive (old owner-structure) -&gt; File x (new docpass) and Folder ( For every \u2026) (as it was in old owner location)<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In the GAT+ menu on left, there is\u00a0<strong>Admin log<\/strong>\u00a0with all the changes done by Admin, most \u201cactions\u201d can be\u00a0<strong>Reverted\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-style-twentytwentyone-border\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-41129\" title=\"File management - Options when changing Ownership of a file in Google Drive 8\" src=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/screenshot-uk.generalaudittool.com-2020.12.08-19_15_21.png\" alt=\"File management - Options when changing Ownership of a file in Google Drive 8\" \/><\/figure>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>File management functionality \u2013 Change ownership GAT Unlock\u00a0required File ownership change\u00a0\u2013 Admin can use GAT+ and Unlock to change Ownership of single or multiple files from One\/Multiple owners to a new (one) Owner.
