Now, Teacher Assist also has a <strong>YouTube control feature <\/strong>that allows the Super Admins of <a href=\"https:\/\/edu.google.com\/\">Google Workspace for Education<\/a> to control students&#8217; access to YouTube Videos. With this feature, Google admins can block specific URLs, Channels, Videos, and Keywords on YouTube if they don&#8217;t simply want to block the entire YouTube site access.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Requirement:<\/strong> This feature is <\/em> <em>available to all new Shield users and for those who have the new version of Site Access Control enabled automatically when migrating to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/tech-tips\/shield-migration-mv2-to-manivest-version-3-mv3\/\">GAT Shield MV3<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Setup<\/h2>\n<p><em>Note: This feature is only for the Super Admins of the domain.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Navigate to <strong>Teacher Assist &gt; YouTube (1)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A menu will appear containing different options to set up YouTube access.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Base settings<\/strong> &#8211; this setting allows Google Workspace admins to set up and enable different YouTube settings:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Age Restriction<\/strong> &#8211; to set up an Age restriction for YouTube.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Restrictive Mode<\/strong>, block all except allowed &#8211; to allow blocking all Youtube contents except the allowed ones.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Prevent Override by Session,<\/strong> the teacher can not override global settings &#8211; When this is enabled, teachers cannot override any settings by admins.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Categories<\/strong> (2) \u2013 In this menu, admins can select categories of Youtube content they want to allow in their schools.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10455\" src=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/YouTube-block.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1781\" height=\"698\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/YouTube-block.png 1781w, https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/YouTube-block-300x118.png 300w, https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/YouTube-block-1024x401.png 1024w, https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/YouTube-block-768x301.png 768w, https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/YouTube-block-1536x602.png 1536w, https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/YouTube-block-360x141.png 360w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1781px) 100vw, 1781px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Channel<\/strong> \u2013 Within this menu, admins can add specific Youtube channels that they want to block, by entering the Youtube URL or Video ID.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Video<\/strong> \u2013 Under this option, admins can enter YouTube videos or URLs that they want to allow or block.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Keyword<\/strong> \u2013 Select this option to enter the keyword(s) to block on Youtube.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Result<\/h2>\n<p>All users of Teacher Assist are affected by these settings.<\/p>\n<p>Students can easily access the allowed categories of Youtube videos categories. For example, if the status of the Education category wasn&#8217;t changed, i.e. it was neither blocked nor allowed, students can watch videos in this category.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7217\" src=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/allowed-yt-video.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1935\" height=\"910\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/allowed-yt-video.png 1935w, https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/allowed-yt-video-300x141.png 300w, https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/allowed-yt-video-1024x482.png 1024w, https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/allowed-yt-video-768x361.png 768w, https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/allowed-yt-video-360x169.png 360w, https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/allowed-yt-video-1536x722.png 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1935px) 100vw, 1935px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the categories, channels, videos, or keywords that are blocked will get blocked for Teacher Assist users. For example, if the Movies Category was blocked, all the videos that fall under this category <strong>will be blocked.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Note: Some videos may be movies but not under the &#8216;movies category&#8217;.
