Teacher Assist<\/strong><\/a> can be accessed by Super Admins<\/strong> and Google Classroom Teachers<\/strong> by default.<\/p>\n

Teachers are Google Workspace users who are assigned as Teachers to a Google Classroom. Teachers<\/strong>\u00a0who\u00a0own\u00a0<\/strong>or\u00a0have created<\/strong>\u00a0a Google Classroom can log in and use Teacher Assist <\/strong>by default.<\/p>\n

However, this is not always the case. Sometimes, a domain might not use Classrooms just yet but use Teacher Assist to run the sessions instead.<\/p>\n

This is possible by creating\u00a0 Teacher Assist Groups<\/strong>\u00a0that behave like a classroom even if no Google Classroom<\/a> exists just yet.<\/p>\n

Access Rights<\/h2>\n

By default, Admins have full access to the tool and thus can create a virtual class group, and assign the students and teachers as they need.<\/p>\n

An Admin can also give a Teacher additional privileges that give them the option to create\/edit Teacher Assist Groups by assigning Access Rights for any teacher in Teacher Assist.<\/p>\n

To do so, navigate to the Admin section in Teacher Assist<\/strong>, select Administration > Access Rights<\/strong> fourth top tab, and click on the “+” button to create a new Access Rights<\/p>\n

For the Teacher to be able to create and edit the Teacher Assist Groups in Teacher Assist, an Admin must configure the below access right for the given user\/teacher.<\/p>\n

  1. Scope Type: User<\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. Enter a user Email: teacherXYZ@domain.com<\/strong><\/li>\n
  3. Area: Create & Edit group<\/strong><\/li>\n
  4. Type: Enabled<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    When ready, click on Apply (5). A new Access Right is created for the particular Teacher.<\/p>\n

    They can be edited (‘pencil’ icon) or deleted (red ‘x’ icon) at any time.<\/p>\n

    From now on, the designated Teacher has the privilege to create a Teacher Assist Group<\/strong> that can be used to run individual sessions with the students outside of the existing Classrooms.<\/p>\n

    To do so, the particular Teacher must log in to the Teacher Assist tool by using the teacher’s domain credentials.<\/p>\n

    In the next step, the Teacher can create Teacher Assist Groups<\/strong> that are different from the existing classes or will behave like the class itself if it doesn’t already exist.<\/p>\n

    Set up Teacher Assist Group<\/h2>\n

    Teachers with access rights can navigate to the Courses<\/b> module (1) and click on the ‘Create group<\/strong>‘ button (2) to initiate the creation process:<\/p>\n

    The Groups’ creator window will come up.<\/p>\n

    Enter the new Group’s name first then click OK<\/strong> to proceed.<\/p>\n

    In the next step, the Teacher can create a Group by entering the details into each section:<\/p>\n

    1. Description<\/strong> – The name of the Group session, its description, and the ownership can be changed here;<\/li>\n
    2. Teachers<\/strong> – The user(s) can be added as teachers for this Teacher Assist Group;<\/li>\n
    3. Students<\/strong> – Students can be added here;<\/li>\n
    4. Prepare Group Session<\/strong> – The teacher can block all sides by default, and prepare Allow\/Block site access rules from here;<\/li>\n
    5. Timers<\/strong> \u2013 Set up a time for how long the groups’ session should last;<\/li>\n
    6. Site collections<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Set up and save Sites (Web pages) into a collection \u2013 This site collection then can be sent to students<\/li>\n
    7. YouTube Control<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Control YouTube by allowing or blocking specific\u00a0Categories, Channels, Videos and Keywords<\/strong>\n
