{"id":8286,"date":"2023-09-06T11:03:21","date_gmt":"2023-09-06T10:03:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/?post_type=docs&#038;p=8286"},"modified":"2025-03-14T17:07:45","modified_gmt":"2025-03-14T17:07:45","password":"","slug":"teacher-assist-admin-settings","status":"publish","type":"docs","link":"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/tech-tips\/teacher-assist-admin-settings\/","title":{"rendered":"Teacher Assist Admin Settings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/education\/products\/teacher-assist\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Teacher Assist<\/a> is a tool that allows the Teachers of Google Classrooms to view and control the browsing activity of their students in real-time.<\/p>\n<p>By default, the tool can be used by any user of the <a href=\"https:\/\/workspace.google.com\/intl\/en_ie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google Workspace<\/a> domain who is a <strong>Google Classroom Teacher<\/strong> or <strong>Super Admin.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Admins can set up and use Admin controls over the Teacher Assist tool.<\/p>\n<h2>Teacher Assist Admin Settings<\/h2>\n<p>The Admins can log in to <strong>Teacher Assist<\/strong> and will be able to see all the <a href=\"https:\/\/edu.google.com\/workspace-for-education\/classroom\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google classrooms<\/a> of the domain.<\/p>\n<h3>1. General settings<\/h3>\n<p>The Admin can set up the timer for the sessions in Teacher Assist. The timer can be activated (enabled) and (deactivated) disabled depending on the general school rules and regulations.<\/p>\n<p>Navigate to <strong>Teacher Assist&gt; Admin &gt; Administration &gt; General:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Session timer is enabled<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Session timer is disabled\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Enable or disable Timer and set up its time if activated. Unit &#8211; selected org. unit of users<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Area<\/strong> &#8211; select access rights.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>All<\/strong> &#8211; all access rights to be enabled<\/li>\n<li><strong>Create &amp; Edit groups<\/strong> &#8211; the Teachers can create (add students\/users to Teacher Assist groups<\/li>\n<li><strong>Edit group<\/strong> &#8211; the Teachers can only edit groups<\/li>\n<li><strong>Allow co-teachers to edit<\/strong> &#8211; enable secondary teacher to edit the classroom settings (to enable co-teacher to edit the TA Groups as well, the <strong>Edit group<\/strong> permission must also be granted)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Access to students&#8217; drive<\/strong> &#8211; allow access of the Teacher to the student&#8217;s drive<\/li>\n<li><strong>Student drive can be viewed<\/strong> &#8211; the Drive of the students will be accessible<\/li>\n<li><strong>Teacher<\/strong> &#8211; &#8220;Teacher&#8221; is a person who can use the application, teachers are automatically users who have classes or groups assigned or have been granted a role as a teacher when the role is actively revoked\/blocked the user can not use this app.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Access to reports<\/strong> &#8211; allow the Teachers to view and access the reports<\/li>\n<li><strong>Principal<\/strong> &#8211; enable the Principal feature for a user, allowing the chosen user to use the Principal feature and monitor all the Teacher assist sessions that occur in the domain<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-12356\" src=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/TA-area-1024x303.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"861\" height=\"255\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/TA-area-1024x303.png 1024w, https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/TA-area-300x89.png 300w, https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/TA-area-768x227.png 768w, https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/TA-area-1536x455.png 1536w, https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/TA-area-360x107.png 360w, https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/TA-area.png 1840w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 861px) 100vw, 861px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>5.
