Select the name of the existing Google Vault Matter that the export will refer to;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Export name <\/strong>&#8211; Type the name of this export that will be displayed in Google Vault under the particular Matter&#8217;s export tab;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Service <\/strong>&#8211; Choose the relevant service from the pop-up list:\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Drive<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Mail<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Hangout chat<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Export format<\/strong> &#8211; if Mail service is selected, choose the export format from:\n<ol>\n<li><strong>MBOX<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>PST<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Data scope<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>All data<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Held data<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Unprocessed data<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Time zone <\/strong>&#8211; Select the time zone<\/li>\n<li><strong>All \/ Date range \/ Days back <\/strong>&#8211; define from which time period the data should be exported (select the date range or the number of days back from which data should be exported if not All selected);<\/li>\n<li><strong>Terms <\/strong>&#8211; If you wish to upload the export to a shared drive, <a href=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/tech-tips\/automatically-upload-your-google-vault-exports-to-a-shared-drive-first-time\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">please follow these steps first.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10003\" src=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Export-to-SD.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1605\" height=\"860\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Export-to-SD.png 1605w, https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Export-to-SD-300x161.png 300w, https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Export-to-SD-1024x549.png 1024w, https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Export-to-SD-768x412.png 768w, https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Export-to-SD-1536x823.png 1536w, https:\/\/gatlabs.com\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Export-to-SD-360x193.png 360w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1605px) 100vw, 1605px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/vault\/answer\/2990828?hl=en#zippy=%2Ccustom-retention-rules-holds-can-extend-coverage-periods%2Cdata-can-remain-in-vault-after-all-retention-rules-expire\">How retention works in Google<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Even when a retention rule is set to purge data, the background process that removes permanently deleted or expired data from Google systems keeps data available to Vault for\u00a0<strong>approximately 30 days before it is fully purged<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>For example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"\" data-outlined=\"false\"><strong>Gmail messages <\/strong>that were deleted more than 30 days before the retention coverage expires\u00a0are immediately purged at the end of the retention period, and you can\u2019t retrieve them.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Drive items<\/strong> can take up to 15 days to be removed from Drive after all retention rules expire. If an item is removed from Drive and is not covered by retention rules or holds, it is immediately unavailable to Vault.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Results<\/h2>\n<p>The workflow needs to be approved by the Security Officer.<\/p>\n<p>Once the request is approved, the workflow will execute, and the Google Vault export will be created.<\/p>\n<p>To check the results, navigate to the\u00a0<strong>Workflow<\/strong> section and select the workflow that refers to the creation of Google Vault export.
