Teacher Assist<\/span><\/b> is a classroom management tool developed by GAT Labs for Google Workspace for Education environments.<\/span> Built to work alongside Google Classroom, it provides educators with real-time visibility into students’ Chrome browser activities during active class sessions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Shield prerequisite<\/b><\/strong><\/h2>\n

GAT Shield is a prerequisite extension that must be installed alongside Teacher Assist.<\/b><\/p>\n

Teacher Assist is a Chrome extension that the Super Admin of the domain must install via the Google Admin console.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Below, we will cover how to deploy the Teacher Assist extension to your users.<\/span><\/p>\n

Important:<\/em> Teacher Assist<\/b> can be installed only for specific Organization Units, such as the Students OU<\/span><\/p>\n

Install the extension<\/b><\/h2>\n

1. Open Google Admin Console -> Chrome Browser -> Apps & Extensions<\/strong><\/h3>\n

2. Select the desired Organizational Unit<\/strong><\/h3>\n

3. Click on ‘+’ button and select option ‘Add the Chrome App or extension by id’<\/strong><\/h3>\n

4. Select ‘From a custom URL’ and fill in the Extension ID and URL<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Copy values for the extension that you are installing – from Teacher Assist!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

When the ID and URLs are added, click on the “<\/span>Save”<\/b> button<\/span><\/p>\n

5. “Select ‘Force install’ for the ‘Installation policy’ option.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

When the Extension is saved, select the ‘Force install’ policy to force installation in the browser. You may also tweak other settings for your needs.<\/span><\/p>\n

6. Fill in ‘Policy for extensions’<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Copy values for the extension that you are installing, in this case, Teacher Assist<\/strong><\/p>\n

7. Click ‘Save’ in the top right corner.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

View extension ID and URL<\/b><\/h2>\n

To access and view the Extension ID and URL, navigate to <\/span>Teacher Assist > Configuration > Extension deployment<\/b><\/p>\n

Copy the <\/span>ID<\/b>, <\/span>URL<\/b>, and <\/span>Policy for an extension<\/b> from here and use them above.<\/span><\/p>\n

Allow Teacher Assist Extension through Firewall<\/h2>\n

Note:<\/strong>\u00a0Depending on your\u00a0firewall setup<\/strong>, there might be restrictions that do not allow<\/span> traffic to Teacher Assist.
\nPlease check your Firewall settings and allow the following URLs:<\/p>\n

To install the extension, you need to whitelist the following domain<\/strong>: https:\/\/extension.gattool.com<\/a><\/p>\n

Additionally, need to whitelist domains based on region.<\/p>\n

For US (Global) domains (no prefix) \u2013 US (default) region<\/p>\n
