About the School
The Green Acres Academy is one of Mumbai’s top K12 schools, with campuses across Chembur, Mulund, and Kalyan. The school has been globally recognized as the city’s only Google-referenced institution to have embraced the best use of technology in supporting the learning process.
TGAA has created an innovative educational environment while effectively streamlining school management systems. With a strong focus on its students’ cybersecurity, the school maintains consistent efforts toward improving its tech-driven education to ensure both engagement and efficiency.
As of 2024, the school serves approximately 2,240 users, with students from grade 2 and above actively using personal devices to enrich their learning experience. By March 2025, all students will transition to a 100% Chromebook model to meet the needs of our tech-enabled curriculum and academic requirements.
As this technological shift takes place, it reflects the school’s broader mission, rooted in its founding principles. Established by the Acres Foundation, an educational think-tank, the school is committed to building economically accessible institutions for Indian families, guided by the motto ‘Change begins with us.’

About the IT Department
The IT Department is currently spearheaded by Sandeep Karnale, the IT Head, alongside Irfan Ansari, the Deputy Manager. Together, they have developed an IT strategy for the education domain and student policies to carry out online activity in a secure manner across all four campuses. They’re the driving force behind efficient user management at TGAA.
What Challenges They Faced Before GAT Labs
Before deploying GAT, The Green Acres Academy had no auditing or security tools. Because of this, their primary concern was security, and auditing Drive, calendars, Gmail, and the entire Google domain was challenging at that time. They also struggled with getting Google Workspace reports and needed cyber threat prevention solutions, so they sought a 360-degree reporting and auditing tool.
How GAT Labs Impacted Their School Domain Management
Mr. Tejas Parekh, Group CEO and Director of Operations, introduced GAT Labs solutions to the school. Implementing them allowed Irfan and Sandeep to centrally manage all four schools. The toolset streamlined their domain management and helped create new opportunities for spreading their innovative tech ideas on green education to other educational institutions.
Student Online Monitoring with GAT Shield
Using GAT Shield, Irfan easily manages student browsing. They block and disallow specific websites using the Site Access Control feature. No firewall allows them to select sites dynamically, as GAT Shield does. They use several rules to block access to YouTube for students under 18 and block all video and gaming websites, social media, and specific keywords.Being able to manage student downloads is one of the key features of the toolset for Prasanth’s daily work. This allows him to restrict students from downloading videos, games, and other large files in the school domain. Students are limited to downloading 15 MB of educational content per person daily at max.
User Management Automation with GAT Flow
The school IT team appreciates the time they save with GAT Flow for automating email signature management, which they did manually before deploying GAT tools. They also use the tool to onboard and offboard students in bulk in Google Classroom. GAT Flow supports them in populating classes and managing student accounts.
Compliance Audit with GAT+
The Green Acres Academy must comply with the age policy for Google accounts. It requires restricting certain features to users under 18. GAT’s auditing features help them overcome this compliance challenge. It enables Irfan to get more in-depth data and easily manage student accounts and their permissions.
Great Results from Using GAT Labs Tools
The Green Acres Academy has reduced 25-30% time spent on IT tasks since deploying GAT Labs tools. The critical feature for this school’s IT department is automated reporting, allowing them to monitor what’s happening in the domain regularly. It saves them resources and time—at least half an hour daily.
They also highlight data extraction, logs on downloaded files, browsing monitoring, and file access management as essential functionalities.
Irfan can’t imagine the future without the GAT toolset, while Sandeep sees GAT as a key component in The Green Acres Academy’s future school IT strategy. He would recommend GAT to other schools using Google Workspace for Education to solve their management issues.
