As a teacher leading a session, whether it’s a Google Classroom or Teacher Assist session, you’ll have a bird’s-eye view of all users’ open windows and tabs in the Teacher Assist tool, ensuring users are fully focused on the session content .
How to overview all students’ windows and tabs #
When running a session in Teacher Assist, you can have a numerical and visual overview of each opened page in each student’s card.
You can review the number of the following:
- Opened windows – number of opened browsing windows by each student
- Opened tabs – number of all opened tabs in all opened browsing windows for each student
Review all opened pages – Browsing History #
Before taking any action, you can review your student’s entire browsing history by going to the student’s tab and clicking the “down arrow” button to display the menu. Then select Browsing History.
A new window will appear containing information about the user’s activity in the browser, along with a list of opened pages and the time they were opened. It will list all active pages even if opened in multiple windows.
Take action on all opened windows – reduce student’s distraction #
In just a few simple steps, you can close all active windows and tabs, displaying only those necessary for the lesson. This allows students to fully focus on the lesson, and teachers have full control over their students’ activities, ensuring the effectiveness of their lessons.
To do so, navigate to the student card and click the “down arrow” button to display the menu. Then select Open New Tab option.
A new Open Tab window will appear, where you must first:
- Tackle the “Close all other browser tabs“
- Enter the URL you only want to display, (e.g. gatlabs.com)
- Click on:
- Open – Opens the specified website, but the student will still be able to open others.
- Open and Lock Domain – Ensure the student cannot open any websites other than the one specified in these settings.
The student will have only one designated website open in his or her browser.
