Multi-tenancy management for GAT+ Admins

Now, GAT+ empowers Admins to seamlessly manage multiple domains within a single account. This new Multi-Tenancy Management feature streamlines administration by allowing one Admin to oversee various external domains effortlessly.

Here’s how it works: #

• Centralized Control:
  • A single Admin account serves as the central hub for managing multiple domains.
  • Simplified navigation and oversight for efficient administration.
• Manager Account Access:
  • Admins of individual domains grant access to Manager accounts for GAT+ control.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with managers without compromising security.
• Impersonation Feature:
  • External users cannot access a domain unless granted permission by the Admin using the Impersonation feature.
  • Ensures secure and controlled access to domain-specific functionalities.

This streamlined Multi-Tenancy Management feature in GAT+ enhances efficiency, security, and collaboration for Admins overseeing diverse domains.

Access to external domain #

By default the Admin of the recipient domain must give and allow access to the external Admin (domain) to manage and control their domain via GAT+.

The local domain must grant the external Admin to control and manage their domain.

Environment #

By default, this feature works only if the domains are in the same Google data environment such as 

• GS – Global data is in USA servers
• UK – data is on UK servers
• EU data is in EU servers

How it Works: #

• Selecting an Account:
  • Choose an account to impersonate, granting the user Admin access as if they were from the local domain.
• Admin Control:
  • Full GAT+ (all other products) control as if you were the Admin of the local domain.
• User Notification:
  • Clear message: “You are impersonating another user” reinforces awareness during the session.

Enable Multi-Tenancy Management impersonation in GAT+ #

To enable a domain impersonation – the Admin must give access to the impersonator account.

1. Navigate to GAT+ > Admin name > Settings > Impersonation
2. Enter the external Manager account email account under Allow My Account to be Impersonated by
3. Click on “Send request” – to send a request email for approval.

Unlock required #

When you click Save – the Security officer will receive an email to approve the action.

This will lead to the Approval page, where the Officers can approve the request.

Click on the “checkmark” to approve the request.

Result: #

When approved the Multi-tenancy management will be enabled and the external Admin will be able to control your Google Workspace domain via GAT+

Once added, the designated account gains access:

• The impersonating account can log in to GAT+ via their Google Admin account.
• Managed accounts are visible under their account.

This feature provides comprehensive control over external accounts, encompassing all available products for the host domain:

• Complete Control:
  • Seamless management of all products within the host domain.
  • Full control over Managed accounts, covering GAT+, Flow, Shield, and Teacher Assist.
• BETA Version Note:
  • Please note that the current version is in BETA.
  • Some actions may be restricted:
    • Scheduled reports will be set by default to work if the local admin created them (additional recipients can be added via advanced mode))
    • Export into Google Spreadsheet will show an error message; use CSV export instead.
• Admin Log Transparency:
  • The Admin Log functions normally, creating an immutable record of all actions done by the Super Admins.
  • Actions, whether on GAT+, Flow, Shield, or Teacher Assist, are meticulously logged for accountability.

This structured approach ensures that while having full control, users are informed about the BETA limitations and benefit from a transparent Admin Log for comprehensive oversight.
